These organizations and caring members of the community make it possible for the Central Coast Literacy Council to do this important work. Funding is instrumental to the sustenance of a non-profit organization. As such, Central Coast Literacy Council depends on financial and in-kind gifts from various sources.
The following foundations, agencies and individuals have contributed to our literacy services in the last few years and we are very grateful for that: Altrusa, California Department of Education, California State Library Services, Chevron, City of Santa Maria, Driscoll's, Edwin & Jeanne Woods Family Foundation, Hutton Parker Foundation, CHW Marian Foundation, Orfalea Foundation, Santa Barbara Foundation, Santa Barbara Human Services, Santa Ynez Band of Mission Indians, Sisters of St. Francis, Target, Towbes Foundation, United Way, Verizon, Wal-Mart, Washington Mutual, Weingart Foundation, and the Wood Claeyssens Foundation.
Substantial individual donations came in the form of bequests from Muriel Robinson and Doris Pine. One of the most significant in-kind gifts we received on a regular basis for several years were donated by John and Sharon Henning. In terms of a fixed in-kind gift, the Council has been enjoying a partnership with the Santa Maria City Library since August 2008. This allows us to have free office space and technical support.
